Head Teacher's Welcome

Welcome to Bishops Itchington Primary School’s website. We hope that by browsing the following pages you’ll find out about the life of the school and view some of the exciting events that we provide each term for our pupils.

Bishops Itchington is a small school at the heart of the local community where every child is valued and nurtured by a caring and dedicated staff. The website gives a flavour of the school and we actively encourage visits from prospective parents.

We believe that children learn best when they are happy and stimulated to learn. Each term the school provides exciting events in addition to the normal curriculum to motivate and inspire our pupils. In the recent past we’ve held Science days, French breakfast, Art weeks with a visiting artist and a whole school story writing event in which the stories were published in book form.

The school prides itself on providing opportunities for children to take part in the maximum number of activities. We run football, cross country, cricket, swimming and athletics teams and participate in local sports competitions. The school is eager to promote pupils’ appreciation of art, music and culture. We regularly work with local artists to produce large scale pieces of art and the school has been commended for its extensive display of clay sculptures. We run residential visits in year 5/6 to an activity centre in Shropshire where children can undertake adventurous activities, including canoeing, abseiling, climbing and archery.

We had a school self-evaluation by an Ofsted Inspector on September 20th 2017. This found that the school had maintained its Good rating and reported, " Good teaching has been maintained and built upon since the last inspection." Our SATs results for year 6 in 2017 were well above average for reading, maths and grammar, spelling and punctuation.

We hope you enjoy viewing our website. We try to ensure that it is regularly updated with examples of the pupils’ work.

If you have any queries regarding the school please feel free to make an appointment with me on 01926 612297.

Yours sincerely,

Richard Hawkins
