Reading with your child

Why is reading so important?

Studies show that reading for pleasure makes a big difference to children’s educational performance.

Reading Bingo Challenge

We understand as parents and educators that reading is so important because it impacts on our children's lives in so many ways

In which areas of their lives is reading important?

  • It helps them to discover new things by enabling them to educate themselves in any area of life they are interested in and to do their own research and thinking.
  • It helps develop their mind and imagination and the creative side of them.
  • It helps to improve (vocabulary and spelling) communication both written and spoken.
  • It plays an important part in building their good self-image.
  • It is a function that is necessary in today’s society.

And of course reading is fun!!

Thank you to parents for your support at home with the recent Reading Bingo Challenge.

It has been great to see how engaged and positive the children have been throughout the challenge.

In some classes children had made their own diary, produced pictures and even recommended reads to other children.
